Create images with Midjourney
Learn the essentials of writing and refining image prompts.
Set up your account
Use Midjourney's official website and follow the access flow currently shown there. Before generating, check the account terms, the usage rights relevant to your project and the default settings shown in the interface.
Describe the image
Start with the subject and the elements that must appear. Add only the relevant medium, environment, lighting, colour, mood and composition. Midjourney's documentation recommends short, clear phrasing: a longer list does not automatically give you more control.
Adjust the parameters
Parameters go at the end of a prompt and change how the image is generated. Use an aspect ratio when the destination format requires one and adjust stylisation when you need more or less aesthetic interpretation. Check the official parameter list because names, values and availability can change between models. You can also review our Midjourney profile.
Refine your prompt
Generate an initial set, identify exactly what should change, then alter one variable at a time: subject, framing, lighting, palette or parameter. Use the documented exclusion method for unwanted elements instead of a long negative sentence. Keep each prompt and its settings, then continue with the practical Midjourney guide.
Well done!
